Poem for ‘A Picnic’

A Picnic by Albert Wainwright – Copyright of The Hepworth Wakefield

A poem inspired by Albert Wainwright’s A Picnic currently exhibited at The Hepworth Wakefield in ‘A Contemporary Collection’ (find out more).

Dots and dashes, lines and layers,

Colourful players and picnicking partners.

An apple crisp, a pillow soft.

She stands, watching

He sits, waiting

No time, no need, to go, to stay.

The hay is ready, the fruit is ripe

Watching, waiting
